[ intro music]>>NURSE: George Washington?>>GEORGE: Yes! Heart disease is the number one cause of death
among men and women in the U.S., with someone dying every 38 seconds of heart disease. When it comes to heart disease, there are
some risk factors you can’t do anything about, but others you can treat, manage, and
control with the help of your health care provider. One risk factor that can be treated with lifestyle
changes and your health care provider’s help is high blood pressure. But unfortunately, some 13 million adults
with hypertension aren’t even aware they have it and are not receiving treatment. February is American Heart Month—a perfect
time to visit your doctor for a checkup and have your blood pressure tested. Once you know your numbers, you and your doctor
can discuss proper steps to maintain or improve your blood pressure.
