At that time I remember being upset, upset that I had actually been working for five years building a book of business for somebody else. Not building my own legacy. I was tired, tired of not being able to compete. Out of ten times I would only win one or two. Versus the independent agents that I would talk to winning seven and eight out of ten times. Finally, I wasn’t making the compensation I wanted to make. Making half of the Commission and not getting the contingency and profit sharing that they were getting. You need a back office team: someone that’s doing your administration, doing your appointments, doing your compliance, doing your accounting, doing all of your back office so you can focus on client relationships and grow in your book of business. In today’s world you have to have technology. You need to be able to work virtually, work on a mobile device, work to the experience of the client. Finally, you have to have good compensation.
