Script for Vietnamese Language Google Hangout
promotional video Hi, I’m Tuyet Duong, Senior Advisor at the
White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
Having affordable and accessible health insurance coverage helps us stay healthy, and staying
healthy is an important part of our ability to succeed.
The Affordable Care Act will help make health insurance coverage more affordable and accessible
for millions of Americans, including the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities.
1 in 5 Vietnamese Americans lacks health insurance. We are also among the highest limited English
proficient populations in the nation. Over half, or 53%, of all Vietnamese Americans
report speaking English less than very well. So, access to information on health care in
language is critical. That will help the AAPI communities, including
the Vietnamese American community maintain good health for themselves and their families.
That’s why we invite you to join us for a White House Initiative on AAPIs Google Hangout
— in Vietnamese. We’ll take your questions about the Affordable Care Act’s new health
insurance marketplace and show you how easy it is to enroll. You can submit your questions
on Twitter at @whitehouseaapi, via the “ask a question” option on the Google viewing page,
or email them to [email protected] gov and we’ll respond to some of your questions
live during the Google Hangout. The event will take place on Wednesday, October
16th from 3:00-4:00 p.m. (Eastern). Go to whitehouse.gov/slash aapi to find out
how you can participate in this Hangout and to submit your questions.
We encourage you to view the event with your family and friends so they can also learn
about the Health Insurance Marketplace, and how they can make sure they’re covered too.
We are committed to providing access to federal government services to the AAPI community
and look forward to engaging with you about this important issue — in Vietnamese!
